The fixtures continue thick and fast in the Premiership over this festive period and the New Year’s fixtures should provide some strong betting opportunities with so many recent games providing solid form for betting on what has to be the most entertaining league in the world.
There is an early kick off on Saturday morning and it should feature the easiest win of the entire weekend in the Premiership. Man Utd will move top of the league for at least 24 hours if they beat bottom of the Premiership Blackburn. The visitors have the second worst defence in the entire league whilst Man Utd couldn’t be in better goalscoring form having won their last two games 5-0 and having scored sixteen goals in their last four games. This looks a case of how many for Man Utd at Old Trafford and whilst it is feasible that the game could end up 5-0 or 6-0, the safest play could be to back Man Utd -2 in the handicap meaning they only need to win by a three goal margin and at even money that looks a fair price.
Norwich suffered their just their second home defeat in their last seven matches during the week against Spurs and that is nothing to be ashamed of considering how strong Spurs have been this season. Norwich face a much easier task on Saturday when Fulham come to town and it may surprise a few that Fulham have managed just one away win all season. Fulham have one of the poorest away records in the division and considering Norwich are within two points of having the sixth best home record in the league. The bookies could have priced Norwich up much closer to evens than the 13/8 that is currently available and that looks a good bet this weekend.
Also on Saturday Chelsea will be in action against Aston Villa, looking to end a run of three straight 1-1 draws. Chelsea have a habit of conceding the odd goal but a defensive record of four conceded in six games shows that they can’t be that bad. They may have their best chance of a clean sheet all season on Saturday against an Aston Villa side who have scored just three times in seven games, with two of those three goals coming against Bolton who have the worst defence in the league. Chelsea haven’t failed to score in the Premiership for over two months and if Chelsea score, and keep Aston Villa out, then Chelsea to win to nil will be a winning bet and at 11/10 that looks a worthwhile play in this match.
Finally on New Year’s Day one of the live games features Everton and West Brom and those who don’t support either of these teams or haven’t had a bet on the match are advised to give this one a miss. Everton’s last six games have all had under 2.5 goals and you can see why their games are low scoring, in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland Everton scored a penalty that should have never been given whilst Sunderland’s goal required a massive deflection. West Brom were the first team all season to keep a clean sheet against Man City this week and two of their last three matches have had under 2.5 goals so that looks as though it should be a safe bet in this fixture at 4/5.
