We’re at the quarter-final stage in the World Cup and things are starting to shape up pretty nicely. My two world cup tips at the start of the tournament, Argentina and Holland, are both still involved and I think Diego Maradona’s men could well go all the way, but then again I thought the Dutch would struggle against Brazil!
Uruguay V Ghana
The South Americans have dominated in betting.betfair.ie/football/world-cup-2010/”>World Cup 2010 and they’re represented in every quarter-final (Parguay V Spain and Argentina V Germany take place on Saturday). In contrast Ghana were the only African team to emerge from their group in a disappointing showing for the likes of Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa, while I feel the Ivory Coast were the victims of scheduling and a very tough group. As much as I would love Ghana to go through (and win it now England are out in all honesty!) I feel Uruguay will prove just too strong. I’ve been so impressed with the Uruguay defence and I just don’t think Ghana will be able to break them down, while the likes of Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan are always capable of getting a goal. At 2.14 (11/10) Uruguay are a decent price to win in 90 minutes and worth a look (Ghana are around 4.00 (3/1)). I also think Uruguay could keep a clean sheet at 2.3 (5/4), and if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous they’re 10.00 (9/1) to win 2-0.
