The Premiership continues to provide some extremely entertaining football and although that can sometimes lead to surprise results it remains one of the best leagues in the world to bet on, with this week being no exception.
There are some great games in the Premiership this week, Sunderland v Swansea probably isn’t one of them but it could be one of the best games to bet on. Swansea come into this off the back of a great win against Arsenal but winning at home hasn’t been a problem this season for the Swansea, they have one of the best home records in the division but the worst away record with just six points from ten games on the road. Sunderland have been in great form in Martin O’Neill’s seven league games in charge, their only losses have been 1-0s away against Spurs and Chelsea, in their other matches they have four wins (including one over Man City) and one draw. That form should be enough to see Swansea off and Sunderland look worth backing at 5/6 here.
At similar odds in an equally unfashionable match Stoke look a good bet to beat West Brom. Stoke are once again having a great season at home, they have lost just twice at the Britannia Stadium all season. West Brom meanwhile are inconsistent away from home, winning four matches, losing four matches and drawing twice. Stoke may only win this narrowly, but that’s enough if you back them to win and 10/11 looks a fair price on the home side in this match.
Backing at just below evens in the Premiership can often produce the best value bets, you only need about a one in two success rate and if you’d been backing Man City at 10/11 all season you’d be very rich as they have won all ten home games in the Premiership this season. You are getting those odds this week as they face third placed Spurs but the away side will be without top scorer Emmanuel Adebayor who is ineligible against his parent club. Adebayor may not have been scoring much recently but he is crucial to the way Spurs play and that looks to be another reason to take the 10/11 on Man City winning at home yet again.
Meanwhile at slightly shorter odds comes our final bet in the Bolton v Liverpool match. We don’t often recommend a bet on Liverpool but the bookies may have underestimated them slightly at 4/6. Bolton have the worst home record in the Premiership with just four points gained from ten matches at the Reebok Stadium. Liverpool have won more away games than home games and their composure in front of goal has been the main reason for their dropped points this season, that shouldn’t be too much of a problem against a team that has conceded more goals and more home goals than any other Premiership team.
