There is no doubting that on their current progress Manchester City will be a major force in Europe in the future but can they bring silverware home from the continent this season?

The Blues showed a bit of naivety in their first campaign in the Champions League this term, as they let decent positions slip against the likes of Napoli and Villarreal.

Champions League football is unforgiving and City and their manager Roberto Mancini have learned a lot from the competition as they now enter the Europa League tournament. Anyone following the Europa League betting online will be wondering how they will get on.

First up for the side from the Etihad Stadium will be FC Porto who are looking extremely strong this term and have yet to taste defeat in their domestic league.

With the likes of Hulk, a player who has been linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea in the Premier League, there are some major attacking threats in their ranks.

However City’s star studded starting XI which includes the likes of Yaya Toure, David Silva, Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero is a team that could test any club side around the world.

The big question will be whether the Blues have learned from those fundamental mistakes in the Champions League when they get set for their Europa League campaign, which could be over very quickly if they don’t get a decent result in the first-leg on February 16.

Winning the Premier League will be Mancini’s main target but a Europa League trophy would really announce City’s presence on the European stage this season.
